Exhibition Description
me and you is the culminating exhibition of artworks submitted to the 2016 International World of Threads Festival and selected for display at the Living Arts Centre Gallery. Showcasing 21 artists, this exhibition highlights new modes of using textiles and fibre arts as a means to address contemporary concerns and issues. Works featured draw upon personal narratives as they pertain to the self - body, image and self-identity, while the remainder reflect on issues related to the other - concerning experience, relationships and social-political circumstance. Through varied approaches, the incorporation of both traditional and modern techniques, me and you provides new perspectives on balancing social projections with self-introspection and brings mindfulness to our collective consciousness as connected to space, memory and time.
There are 21 artists in this exhibition, hailing from Canada, Israel, Netherlands, Spain, UK and the USA.
