Clothing has always provided the most clearly recognized use for fibre/textiles. In this two part exhibit, which combined western design with eastern, we saw how seemingly limitless were the opportunities for variation.

White Pine: 2016, 60H x 54W  Handwoven silk warp and paper yarn weft.  This is a 16shaft 
pattern.  The kimono was inspired by a Japanese kimono  “Shoin” created by Yuri Keiko. The Cloth was painted using a pigment system then details were stenciled in using textile paints. Photo: Pete Paterson.

Entente, 2014 137cmH X 48cmL X 28cmW. The colouring and offset patterning is from the collagraph printmaking technique. Collected textural media (ie feathers, dried leaves etc are glued onto mat board which when sealed can be inked and the image printed on paper and material .
EXPERIENCE, 5 metres of mulberry paper was printed on by rolling ink and offsetting images from a collagraph plate.
