Clothing has always provided the most clearly recognized use for fibre/textiles. In this two part exhibit, which combined western design with eastern, we saw how seemingly limitless were the opportunities for variation.

White Pine: 2016, 60H x 54W Handwoven silk warp and paper yarn weft. This is a 16shaft pattern. The kimono was inspired by a Japanese kimono “Shoin” created by Yuri Keiko. The Cloth was painted using a pigment system then details were stenciled in using textile paints. Photo: Pete Paterson.

Collected textural media (ie feathers, dried leaves etc are glued onto mat board which when sealed can be inked and the image printed on paper and material . EXPERIENCE, 5 metres of mulberry paper was printed on by rolling ink and offsetting images from a collagraph plate.
